Dental Implants

A permanent replacement for a missing tooth that looks, feels and works like your own.

Dental Implants

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small titanium post sits in the jawbone where the root used to be, and a custom-made crown sits on top. You can eat, speak and laugh with it the way you would with your own tooth.

Why replace a missing tooth?

A gap causes more trouble than most people expect. The teeth next to it drift into the space, your bite shifts, and the jawbone under the gap slowly shrinks because no root is stimulating it. Replacing the tooth early protects your bite, your face shape and the teeth you still have.

Implant, bridge or denture?

  • An implant is permanent, leaves the neighbouring teeth alone and prevents bone loss. For most single missing teeth it's the best long-term option.
  • A bridge is faster and cheaper at first, but the healthy teeth on either side have to be trimmed to hold it.
  • A denture is removable and economical. It works best when several teeth are missing and implants aren't suitable.

We'll examine your case and explain the trade-offs of each option for you.

How implant treatment works

  1. The gap, your gums and your jawbone are examined to check that an implant is suitable.
  2. The implant is placed in a minor procedure under local anaesthetic. Most patients find it far less eventful than they expected.
  3. Over 2 to 4 months, the implant fuses with your bone.
  4. A custom crown, colour-matched to your natural teeth, is fitted on top.

What patients ask us

Is the surgery painful? It's done under local anaesthetic, so you feel pressure rather than pain. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and easy to manage.

How long do implants last? With good hygiene and regular check-ups, implants usually last decades, often a lifetime.

How much do dental implants cost in Malaysia? It depends on how many teeth you're replacing and whether you need a bone graft. We can tell you after examining your case.
